Chelsea have identified Álvaro Carreras as a possible solution at left-back after Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid. Initial checks have been made on the defender’s situation, but there is no formal offer.
According to Superdeporte, the Galician is among the options under consideration to bolster the London club’s back line.
The move carries logic, with Carreras well versed in English football from Manchester United’s academy and a spell at Preston North End. Chelsea are seeking alternatives to fill the gap left by Cucurella.
At Real Madrid, Carreras’ role is not fully defined. Cucurella’s arrival has increased competition at left-back alongside Fran García and Ferland Mendy.
While Carreras is appreciated, the club do not regard him as untouchable and would consider a sale if a convincing proposal arrives that helps recoup part of their investment.
Aged 23, the Ferrol-born full-back faces a pivotal summer, weighing a fight for minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu against a return to the Premier League. Chelsea are continuing to gather information and assess the parameters of any potential deal.
