Enzo Maresca is on the brink of leaving Chelsea after a breakdown in his relationship with the club.

According to the Guardian, the Blues are set to hold emergency talks over the 45-year-old’s position.

The Blues could turn to Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, who has long been viewed as a potential successor to Maresca.

Rosenior joined Chelsea’s partner club Strasbourg in 2024 and led them to a seventh-place finish in his debut season.

Maresca surprised people last month when he said he had endured his worst ‘48 hours’ since joining the Premier League club after their 2-0 victory against Everton.

This appeared to be a dig at the Chelsea hierarchy, although he refused to explain his remarks in subsequent press conferences.

Maresca came to Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester City to Premier League promotion in 2024.

They qualified for the Champions League and also won the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup last season.

However, things have not been smooth for Chelsea this term.

Tuesday’s 2-2 home draw with Bournemouth means they have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches.

Chelsea are fifth in the league standings with 30 points from 19 games.
