Chelsea fined £10m by FA for 74 agent-rule breaches, avoid points deduction | OneFootball

Chelsea were punished by the Football Association on Friday for 74 breaches of agent remuneration rules. The federation announced a £10m fine, about €12m, and a two-window registration ban suspended, with the money directed to grassroots football.

The club pleaded guilty to breaching rule E1.2 over opaque payments to agents and third-party representatives, largely during the Roman Abramovich era from 2009 to 2016. The case concerns the same issue highlighted in March.

An initial six-point deduction was imposed, then overturned on appeal and replaced by the suspended two-window transfer restriction. Chelsea therefore avoided a points deduction.

Amicable settlements have been reached with UEFA and the Premier League on these matters, and all regulatory proceedings against Chelsea are closed.

An inquiry into potential individual misconduct linked to the case remains ongoing.
