Given Manchester United’s domestic fortunes this season, it is clear that Ruben Amorim needs help, and the only way for INEOS to do so is by raising money through player sales.

And as previously relayed by The Peoples Person, the co-owners are planning yet another fire sale with not even new signings safe from the cull.

Academy graduates are in even more danger as their sale constitutes pure profit. Which is why Marcus Rashford is expected to be the first to go, while the futures of both Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho remain up in the air.

The Argentine recently revealed he was happy in Manchester and had no desire to leave but Amorim’s system utilises attacking midfielders on either side of the striker instead of a wide forward.

And while the 20-year-old has done a commendable job of adapting to the new coach’s style, his poor finishing in recent months could potentially pave the way for an exit with the Red Devils eyeing the likes of Matheus Cunha, Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo as potential replacements.

Napoli were the most interested in his services during the January window but saw their official bid get rejected. The Serie A giants are expected to return in the summer with Antonio Conte desperate to acquire his signature.

There is interest from Atletico Madrid as well but domestic rivals Chelsea are also keen and as per BBC, the Blues have spoken to the Argentine international’s representatives over a summer move.

The 20-time English league champions will ask for £65 million for the United No 17 while the player himself needs to be assured of playing time at Stamford Bridge before accepting the move. It is well known that the London side have a plethora of wide options at present.

The outlet confirms that Chelsea will only go ahead with a move for the United wonderkid if they refuse the obligation to buy United loanee Jadon Sancho and if Mykhailo Mudryk fails to escape his provisional ban.

Chelsea have spoken to Garnacho’s camp

“In the wide attacker position, Chelsea have spoken to representatives of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho and Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens in January.

“Those moves could be linked to whether Jadon Sancho signs permanently, or whether Mykhailo Mudryk can escape his provisional ban for allegedly failing a drugs test.”

A move to Chelsea is far from certain at this stage and INEOS might also prefer not to strengthen a direct rival given Garnacho’s immense potential.

A move to Serie A or La Liga seems much more likely while fans would love for the club to win the Europa League so that INEOS do not need to move on the Argentine ace as selling the academy’s brightest talents is not what the club’s ethos is all about.
