Marc Guiu has not played much for Chelsea this season and there are rumours that he’s asked for a transfer – an insider has shot them down.

With Joao Pedro finally in form and Liam Delap fit to play as his backup, Chelsea’s third choice striker was always going to struggle for minutes.

Marc Guiu is now coming to the end of a second season where he’s barely featured. After racking up 464 minutes last season, he’s on 448 this season, without much prospect of picking up more. It’s only natural there have been whispers about him putting in a transfer request.

But that story has now been denied by Simon Johnson, who has sources at Chelsea.

Guiu still loves being at Chelsea and wants to help the team

Simon Johnson’s latest information on Marc Guiu.

“There has been a bit of noise lately that Marc Guiu has handed in a transfer request because he wants to leave Chelsea,” Johnson wrote on his Twitter page.

“I am told this is not the case. The striker still loves being at the club and is focused on doing whatever he can to help the team this season.”

There are some fans who have grown so frustrated with Delap’s efforts that they would rather see Guiu come on. Given the relative transfer spend on each of them, that was never going to happen. The real question is whether the former Barcelona kid can handle a third season as third choice.

In other news…

The appointment of Liam Rosenior was seen as a bit of a gamble by Chelsea fans, but one pundit likes his style so far.

The failure to secure a front of shirt sponsor for the last few years has been the most visible failure of this ownership, and it’s not getting any better by the sounds of things.
