Real Madrid have made their first summer signing in the form of Marc Cucurella, who will arrive from Chelsea in a deal that could reach €60 million including add-ons.
Cucurella’s arrival at Real Madrid is expected to impact the future of multiple stars, with Los Blancos reportedly open to listening to offers for three players.
One of those three players is Alvaro Carreras. The former SL Benfica defender endured a difficult season after returning to the Bernabeu last summer and is not guaranteed a place in Jose Mourinho’s team.

This has put Carreras’ future at Real Madrid in great danger, especially knowing that Cucurella will replace him as the club’s main left-back next season.
The defender’s situation hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with Chelsea interestingly expressing interest in the left-back, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Blues do not lack any depth in the left-back position, as Jorrel Hato, Malo Gusto and Valentin Barco can all operate in the position.
However, it appears new coach Xabi Alonso wants to bring in a new left-back, who can compete with these players and is a more natural option in the position. That is where Carreras comes into the fray.

Carreras’ potential move to Chelsea could make sense in more ways than one.
For one, the left-back would feel much more comfortable working with Xabi Alonso, the coach who roped him in at Real Madrid in the first place.
Carreras is used to Alonso’s style of football, though he still needs to improve on his defensive play and tendency to leave spaces out behind.
But given Chelsea’s current team, Carreras could be a natural fit thanks to his technical ability and versatility.
Alonso, for his part, has thrived with such full-backs, as evidenced by the success of Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen.
