Antoine Semenyo is the breakout star of this Premier League season so far.
He’s already had a couple of good years, but this campaign he’s really shone as the centre piece of Bournemouth’s extremely impressive form.
This has led some to question whether Chelsea should sign the 25 year old. We’re sure they’d love to – but he will cost them a vast amount of money. Some reporters are saying the Cherries will demand as much as £100m for their outstanding winger.

That’s likely too steep for Chelsea – but they almost had him a whole lot cheaper. The Daily Mail have a report from way back in 2019 that shows the Blues were chasing him then as a teenager.
“Chelsea have made a £1million offer for Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo,” they claimed.
“The exciting 19-year-old has been impressing while on loan at Newport County and his performances in League Two have attracted the attention of Premier League sides prompting Chelsea to make an offer.”
However the Blues’ bid of £1m didn’t prove to be enough – Bristol City were holding out for £2m.
“Chelsea see him as a prospect for their U23 squad initially with potential for him to develop. However, it’s understood Bristol City want closer to £2m for the teenager who can play across the forward line.”
In the end he would stay at Bristol City for four more years, including a couple more loans. He eventually made a Premier League move when Bournemouth snapped him up for £10m. Even then, it took a while for him to really find his feet.
Now he looks like a machine, a perfect encapsulation of the new, ultra physical Premier League. His spectacular speed and strength have generated some special goals already this season.
