PSG have continued to prioritize younger center-back profiles, a strategy reinforced by the summer arrival of Illia Zabarnyi. Even with that focus, landing every desired target may prove difficult, especially as Willian Pacho has already made a strong early impression.

In May, Foot Mercato reported that Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez was on PSG’s radar. The report said Luis Campos and the recruitment staff followed the Ecuador international closely, attending several matches as part of a broader evaluation process.

Club Brugge are believed to value Ordonez between €25 million and €30 million, with Premier League sides also monitoring the situation. While discussions have not advanced, multiple clubs are expected to keep a close watch as Ordonez continues to develop.

Moreover, with Marquinhos being 31, PSG need to find a long-term replacement.

Chelsea are no longer in discussions for Ordóñez, according to Bolavip, even though the Ecuador international had his sights set on a move to Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea stepping aside, Liverpool and Inter have emerged as the leading contenders, setting up a direct fight to land the highly rated young defender.

Gazzetta dello Sport previously reported that Inter Milan have their eye on Ordonez. The challenge is that he signed an extension through 2029 last September, which means any deal will require a significant fee.

Nonetheless, the Italian side aren’t the only club keen on the player. Recently, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reported that Newcastle are aiming to edge out Liverpool and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Ecuadorian centre-back.

The challenge lies in the player’s current contract situation. O’Rourke notes that Brugge hold the upper hand in negotiations, able to demand top value if they decide to part ways with Ordóñez.
