According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are considered the most likely to agree a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Kerim Alajbegovic, previously linked with Sunderland.

Sunderland have added one signing so far, with Belgium international Thomas Meunier agreeing a two-year contract after leaving Lille, ahead of their maiden Europa League campaign.

Alajbegovic, a Bosnia and Herzegovina teenager, featured in all four of his country’s World Cup matches in North America and scored in a 3-1 win over Qatar.

Meanwhile, Bild claims Leverkusen have shifted stance and are open to talks over Ernest Poku, a winger linked with Sunderland and Nottingham Forest, during the final six weeks of the window.

Poku, 22, produced 6 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances last season and had been expected to feature this term.

The 21-times capped Netherlands Under-21 international is now said to be available for around £22m, and the report adds he is set for a move to England before the window closes in early September.
