Chelsea have opened talks with Juventus over a loan deal for Douglas Luiz.
The Brazil international has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest but has failed to make the desired impact.
Luiz has started just five Premier League games for Forest with injuries having restricted his impact. He’s started just one of the club’s last seven league games after returning from injury and has been an unused substitute in the previous two.
Chelsea now want to capitalise by agreeing a deal to take over Luiz’s loan. The West Londoners are not interested in including a purchase clause, but instead are seeking a straight loan to add depth to their squad, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Liam Rosenior is currently without Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia through injury and is keen to reinforce his options. Chelsea are still competing in four competitions this season.
Discussing the club’s midfield depth, Rosenior said on Friday:” Unfortunately Dario [Essugo] picked up a really unfortunate injury. He slipped in training and will be out for over a month.
“Romeo [Lavia] is on the way back, which is great. He’s a very, very good player at a very high level. We have Enzo, Moi [Caicedo], Andrey Santos and Reece James – it’s not bad.”
