Benoit Badiashile is a stalwart of Chelsea’s B team this season, so it was no surprise to see him get called up for the press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s UEFA Europa Conference League game against Noah.

Given he’s not getting any first team minutes, there were a few questions to the defender about his manager Enzo Maresca and their relationship. Badiashile wasn’t going to be draw into saying anything negative about the coach:

“He’s a great person, with good ideas.”

He also straight batted any questions about him potentially leaving Chelsea after a long period where he’s not been trusted as a first team regular. There has been talk about interest from his native France, but according to the former Monaco man, he just wants to stay and succeed at Chelsea.

“Yes of course I want to stay. Chelsea are a big club. I know it’s difficult to succeed here, but I will try to do my best to do it.”

You can see the defender speaking in the clip embedded here, with these answers coming right at the start of the clip:

Badiashile laughs about tomorrow night’s unknown opposition

When asked specifically about tomorrow night’s opposition, Badiashile just laughed. To be fair, Noah are pretty obscure, even by Conference League standards.

“To be honest I don’t know this team, but we will work on [a plan] for them with the gaffer.”

He did at least know they’re an Armenian team. We should be careful though – we’ve had bad results against small teams in this competition already, and Noah got a huge win against AEK back in August to qualify for it. It’s essential we get a clean sheet tomorrow night, and it would be another black against Badiashile’s name if we don’t manage it.
