Real Madrid forward Rodrygo reportedly turned down a lucrative proposal from Manchester City last summer to continue at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 24-year-old forward has, at times, been overshadowed by his teammates Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., which have meant that speculations regarding his future have never really gone away despite the player having a contract with the club until 2028.

Liverpool, for one, have been credited with an interest in Rodrygo and now it appears that another Premier League heavyweight has emerged as a suitor.

Chelsea eye Rodrygo

Indeed, according to Fichajes, Chelsea are aiming high for the upcoming summer transfer window, with Rodrygo firmly in their sights as a marquee signing.

The London giants are prepared to offer €120 million to lure the Brazilian away from Real Madrid.

The Blues see him as the attacking leader their project needs to reignite under new manager Enzo Maresca, who is beginning to shape an ambitious frontline with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson as key figures.

So far this season, Rodrygo has registered 13 goals and ten assists across 45 appearances. However, the competition in Real Madrid’s attack, particularly with stars like Vinicius and Mbappe – has caused his role in the team to fluctuate.

Chelsea hope to take advantage of that uncertainty by offering the forward guaranteed playing time and a personalised growth plan within their revamped squad.

As mentioned earlier, Rodrygo is under contract with Real Madrid until 2028, but Chelsea are confident that a strong financial proposal, both to the club and the player, could turn the tide in their favour.

It must also be noted that Manchester City still remain in the fray for Rodrygo’s signing, with reports suggesting that his father recently held a meeting with the Premier League champions.
