Chelsea provide updates on futures of young quartet

The Blues issued their latest squad news in a series of posts on their official club website this afternoon.
Chelsea have confirmed that midfielder Ashanti Akpan has extended her contract with the club by a further year. The youngster was a Barclays WSL2 runner-up during a loan spell with Birmingham City this season and she will now have her eyes set upon pushing for minutes with parent club Chelsea.
Attacker Aimee Claypole has also penned fresh terms with Chelsea for next season. The teenager impressed in a loan spell with second tier club Durham this season, netting a hat-trick in a 6-0 demolition of Portsmouth.
Defender Greta Humphries will not be with The Blues next season with the player set to leave the club this summer. She furthered her development out on loan at both Bristol City and Charlton Athletic this season.
Finally, forward Lucy Watson is moving on this summer. She joined Chelsea three years’ ago but has had some rotten luck with injuries. Watson has enjoyed loans at Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Ipswich Town in her time as a Chelsea player. She helped the latter to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title this season.
