Chelsea: Racism against Wesley Fofana, the French federation breaks the silence
Last Saturday, Wesley Fofana was subjected to racist abuse in the Premier League following Chelsea's draw with Burnley. The French Football Federation has finally responded.
After Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Burnley in the Premier League last Saturday, Wesley Fofana spoke out about the racist insults he received through messages on social media. On Tuesday, the French Football Federation released a statement in support of the French international.
"For several days now, Wesley Fofana has been the target of unacceptable racist remarks. The FFF gives its full support to Wesley and condemns these indefensible attacks in the strongest possible terms. Racism is not an opinion. It is a crime. We cannot tolerate hatred in our sport. The jersey we wear, no matter which one it is, represents much more than a club or a national team: it carries values of respect, commitment, and solidarity. Attacking a player because of the color of his skin is an attack on these values. The pitch must remain a space for passion, pride, and unity," the statement reads.
