In a recent post on X, journalist Kieran Gill claimed that Chelsea remain keen on recruiting Como defender Jacobo Ramon this summer. It has been stated that the Blues are showing interest in securing the services of the Spanish centre-back this off-season.

Ramon’s Solid Campaign In Serie A

Ramon had an impressive campaign at the Italian club after he produced a series of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 21-year-old scored two goals in 37 matches for Como last season across all competitions.

The Spanish sensation is currently one of the best young centre-backs in Serie A. Thus, it is no surprise that the Blues are hoping to land him later this year.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him on the cheap in this transfer period.

What Will Ramon Add To Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso’s Side?

Ramon is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.96m, the Spanish sensation is a strong presence in the air as well. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues manage to snap him up in this transfer window.

We can expect Ramon to add more bite and steel to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s defensive department in the long run. He is already good enough to fight for a regular starting place at the West London club in the coming seasons.

At 21, the future looks quite promising for Ramon as long as he continues to improve with each year. He will also help Chelsea get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League over the next few years. Therefore, Alonso should focus on stepping up their efforts to sign him later this year. However, the Blues have to be patient with his development before they can get the best out of the player in England.
