Real Madrid’s long-standing interest in Enzo Fernandez has once again come into focus, but any potential move looks increasingly complicated as Chelsea draw a strong line over his valuation.

The Argentine midfielder has been on Madrid’s radar for quite some time, viewed as a profile capable of strengthening their midfield both in the present and for the future.

Furthermore, recent comments from the player only added fuel to the speculation, as he openly admitted his admiration for Spain and, more specifically, Madrid as a city.

“Living in Madrid, it is similar to Buenos Aires,” he noted.

That statement reignited discussions about a possible switch to the Spanish capital, with growing belief that the player would be open to such a move if the opportunity arose.

Chelsea set a price tag

However, the reality of the situation is far more complex. Despite Enzo’s current market valuation hovering around €90 million, Chelsea are not under any pressure to sell.

In fact, the Premier League club would only consider opening negotiations if offers start at €100 million, according to SPORT.

For Real Madrid, this presents a serious dilemma. While the need to reinforce the midfield is acknowledged, committing to such a large fee would require careful financial consideration.

Furthermore, it must be noted that Enzo remains tied to Chelsea until 2032, giving the club full control over his future.

Contract situation at Chelsea

At the same time, there are internal factors at play. Reports suggest that Enzo is seeking an improved salary package, with his current earnings believed to be below €11 million per season.

As he approaches his peak years, the midfielder is expected to push for a raise, something Chelsea are already addressing.

The club has reportedly initiated discussions with the player to review his contract to improve his terms.

This move is also seen as a way to eliminate any temptation for the player to consider an exit, particularly with interest from clubs like Real Madrid lingering in the background.
