Chelsea’s lowest rated player against Man City made a bad error – but in the end it changed nothing in the game’s pattern.

It was a bloodbath in the ratings for Chelsea against Manchester City, as you’d expect.

After a relatively even first half, the Blues came out looking sluggish in the second period and Man City blew them away.

FotMob had Moises Caicedo as by far the lowest rated Chelsea player with a 4.5. This was likely largely because of one horrible mistake he made. At 2-0 down, Robert Sanchez rolled the midfielder the ball in space, and Caicedo gave it away really cheaply. Jeremy Doku nicked it off him, raced away towards goal and scored.

Caicedo error bad – but inconsequential

It was a bad error, and one that you’d have to punish with a penalty in any sort of rating system like this. But in reality it had little to no bearing on the game. The Blues looked broken the moment they were one goal down, let alone two. The third didn’t change anything except make the scoreline look uglier.

Caicedo escaped a booking in the game, meaning he won’t be suspended for two games for accumulation of cards in our remaining games.

In other news…

Jorrel Hato stayed positive, saying Chelsea have a good chance of making the Champions League after the defeat. We’d have to disagree with that.

Hato also pointed to Chelsea’s inability to recover after a small setback as a major weakness of the team – we’ve heard similar from the manager.
