Chelsea take interest in Stuttgart star Nick Woltemade | OneFootball

Sport Bild reports that Chelsea have registered interest in Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade. As the 23-year-old continues to smash all performance ceilings, whether or not Woltemade will remain with his current Bundesliga club next season is suddenly thrown into question. Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have been linked with Woltemade in the past few months.

Woltemade’s meteoric rise surely leaves him in line for a pay raise. Having just signed on with the Swabians last summer, Woltemade’s current Stuttgart contract still keeps him in Württemberg for another three years. Kicker nevertheless notes that Stuttgart have, perhaps to their detriment, not yet initiated talks with Woltemade over a contract extension.

Asked about interest from other clubs in the mixed zone last night, Woltemade remained evasive about the prospects of moving elsewhere. Despite the fact that he recorded his second consecutive hat-trick for the Germany U21s, the now twice-capped German senior international didn’t feel as if such talk was justified.

“It wasn’t an optimal scouting opportunity if other clubs didn’t have this match on their list,” Woltemade said. “These are things that I’m not thinking about now. When it comes to my personal future, I don’t have any thoughts. I’m here to achieve something with the lads.“

English clubs – if they were indeed not watching last night – will surely be on hand to scout Woltemade before the group phase of the current U21 European championship is over. After facing the Czech U21s on Sunday, Antonio di Salvo’s Juniors conclude their group against the England U21s on Wednesday.
