Now we’re getting into the peak moment of summer transfers, and there’s a lot going on at Chelsea.

As well as the players that had already been signed to arrive this summer like Estevao Willian and Dario Essugo, there are also players returning from loan like Andrey Santos, and players who have been freshly signed this window like Liam Delap.

And that’s just on the signings side – the sales side could get even more hectic. There are first team players from last season being liked away like Noni Madueke, as well as players who were loaned out last season who are also likely to be sold like Raheem Sterling.

Nkunku linked with unlikely trade move to Barcelona

Christopher Nkunku was at the club all year, but never found a spot in Enzo Maresca’s first team setup all season long, and it was pretty clear from about January that his bags were packed. It’s a question of where we can send him, and today a really interesting rumour popped up that we’d love to see happen.

Chelsea are apparently interest in rising La Masia sensation Fermin Lopez, and were hoping to send Nkunku to the Nou Camp along with a big £60m slug to get the deal done. Bear in mind this report comes from El Chiringuito, the notoriously sensationalist Spanish TV show.

But as well as wild and wacky, they’re also well connected. So there could be some truth to it.

Chelsea stuck looking for new Nkunku destination

In any case, it doesn’t sound like it went very far. Barcelona rejected the approach, quite sensibly thinking they’d rather keep their wonderkid.

Nkunku is the type of player who could really thrive at Barcelona – but it doesn’t look like he will be getting his chance anytime soon. They’re hard up for cash and relatively loaded in attacking areas.

The question then remains – where do we send him?
