Enzo Fernandez could well be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer – but who exactly is going to pay us for him?

Jacob Steinberg’s piece for the Guardian about Chelsea’s predicament around Enzo Fernandez at the moment points out that Chelsea might be better off letting him go.
The vice captain has let himself down by openly flirting with a move to Real Madrid in this international break, just when the club needed everyone pulling in the same direction.
Steinberg notes that “Chelsea are unimpressed with Fernandez” following his comments, and “some [at the club] believe it would not be a disaster if he goes [to Madrid].” That aligns with what lots of fans are saying right now.
But Steinberg’s most damning line follows just what we’ve been saying ourselves time and again when the idea of selling him is brought up: “Spanish sources say Madrid are not about to pay £100m.”
They rarely pay that sort of money for anyone. Why would they, when they can get the world’s best players on free transfers? And let’s be honest with the cold hard truth – Enzo is just not a £100m player.
Chelsea’s struggles are as bad off the pitch as on the pitch. They’re losing money at a crazy rate.
Another failed transfer, Mykhailo Mudryk is training alone at the moment – with still plenty of questions to be answered about his doping ban.
