Chelsea continue their Europa Conference League campaign with a trip to face German outfit FC Heidenheim this evening.
Both teams enter the clash with a perfect record of three wins from three games in the league phase. Chelsea are the Conference League leaders, having scored 16 times in just three games to date – including a record-breaking 8-0 win over Armenian minnows FC Noah last time out.
Their opponents this evening have enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years. Promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2023, Heidenheim ended their debut campaign eighth to secure continental football. However, the Germans currently sit 15th and just two points above the Bundesliga’s relegation places.
Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Reece James is facing another spell out as the Chelsea captain’s injury nightmare continues. The right-back has sustained a hamstring injury, leaving Chelsea short of options with Malo Gusto also missing the weekend win over Leicester.
Gusto has returned to training but has not travelled, with Maresca opting for a reduced squad for the trip to Germany. The Italian has rotated his team entirely for this competition and the likes of Filip Jorgensen, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Mykhailo Mudryk will all be expecting minutes after minimal involvement in the Premier League this season.
Academy products Tyrique George and Samuel Rak-Sakyi are involved and eyeing opportunity.
Chelsea predicted XI: Jorgensen; Disasi, Adarabioyo, Badiashile, Veiga; Casadei, Dewsbury-Hall, Sancho, Felix, Mudryk; Nkunku.
