Enzo Fernandez set to come back into the fold for crunch fixture in race for Europe
The Argentine has completed his club-imposed, two-game suspension for comments made about Real Madrid, which head coach Liam Rosenior felt “crossed the line”.
As such, he is available again for selection and likely to play at Stamford Bridge, though Rosenior must decide whether to start the midfielder against the Red Devils or use him as a substitute.
“Enzo has been with the group and has been training very, very well,” said Rosenior of Fernandez. “So, it’s business as usual in terms of selection for the game.
“Enzo has come back to the group this week, and the group has been fantastic. In terms of his training, his application to training, Enzo has been fantastic as well.”
Centre-back Levi Colwill is again unavailable, as he has been all season, but will feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly for the Chelsea Under-21s on Friday in a boost to his recovery from a serious knee injury.
Fellow defender Trevoh Chalobah is following a specialised training programme after an ankle injury and a late call will be made over whether he features.
With Reece James still out with a hamstring injury and considering Fernandez’s recent controversial comments and subsequent punishment, Moises Caicedo is likely to captain the Blues in a game that could go a long way to determining which of the two teams qualifies for Champions League football next term.
Jamie Gittens and goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen are slightly longer-term absentees and remain sidelined.
Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Hato, Cucurella; Santos, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
Doubt: Chalobah
