Chido Obi would play no part with the Manchester United first-team until further notice, according to the Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old played eight games for the Man United senior team last term but has yet to make any appearance this season.
Obi has only been named once on the Red Devils bench this season and is not expected to feature for Michael Carrick’s team this term.
The Old Trafford club decided to allow the teenage sensation to develop out of the spotlight and he has been playing mainly for the under-18s and under-21s this season.
Obi remains highly rated by Man United, but they believe he should make the most of his valuable development years by playing for the youth teams.
He has plenty of things to work out to become the finished article, and being with the first-team was not seen as the best decision for him.
The Dane has 15 goals for the youth ranks so far this term, and his physical, mental and technical improvements have been obvious to his coaches in recent months.
Obi left Arsenal for Man United two years ago, believing that a clearer pathway existed through to senior football at the Theatre of Dreams.
He remains in the long-term thinking of the club and Man United are only following the individual development plan they have laid out for him.
Obi continues to prove himself at youth level and his huge potential cannot be denied, but he still has plenty of work to do if he wants to replicate his schoolboy and academy form at first-team level.
It remains to be seen whether he will be involved with the senior team when they go on pre-season tour in the summer after impressing last time out.
The next permanent manager (Carrick?) could have a huge say on that, but Obi remains a serious talent regardless of what decision is made and all eyes remain on him going forward.
