Chivas shows full trust in its young talent—and this proves it

Guadalajara has once again backed up with actions the full trust it places in its young players and in the Cantera Rojiblanca. At Chivas, giving opportunities to prospects and young Mexican players is not an obligation—it is a conviction and a commitment to developing national talent and boosting its projection.

The proof is clear: under Gabriel Milito, Guadalajara once again finished atop the U-23 minutes standings, recording 3,683 regulatory minutes and a total of 4,294 minutes—361 more than their closest challenger, Necaxa.

Guadalajara surpassed its mark from the previous tournament

If we take the AP25 as a reference—when the Rojiblancos also finished first in this category—Guadalajaraimproved its own record in the CL26, having previously logged 3,634 regulatory minutes and a total of 4,115 minutes.

This reflects how the development process of our young players continues to grow under Milito’s leadership.

The best academy in Mexico: development and consistent work

We must highlight the solid and consistent work carried out in the Cantera Rojiblanca. Proof of this is the presence of players with true Rojiblanco DNA who have contributed minutes toward this rule, such as Armando González, Yael Padilla, Hugo Camberos, and Santiago Sandoval, all of whom have gone through the entire development pathway at Club Deportivo Guadalajara and are now becoming key pieces in ‘Gaby’ Milito’s system.

Strong work in recruiting young talent

This result is no coincidence; it is also the product of a strong recruitment process for high-potential young talent. A clear example is Bryan González, who joined as a reinforcement in the AP25. He is joined by additions like Brian Gutiérrez, who has become an important part of the team’s backbone, as well as Ángel Chávez and Jonathan Pérez, who have already logged their first minutes as Rojiblancos under Milito’s management.

National team call-ups

The performance of our young players has not gone unnoticed. Several of them have been involved in recent processes with the Mexican National Team across different categories.

Recently, Santiago Sandoval and Hugo Camberos have been part of the Mexico U-20 squad in friendlies against Costa Rica.
Meanwhile, Bryan González, Brian Gutiérrez, and Armando González have been considered in the process leading up to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
