Christian Eriksen is fine after collapsing during Denmark's friendly against Ukraine on Sunday. The match was halted on 61 minutes and later abandoned.

The 34-year-old clutched his chest and fell to the turf early in the second half. Medics treated him for several minutes before he left the pitch conscious, the Danish federation said.

Eriksen was able to walk off the pitch and, from initial observations, his pacemaker appeared to function as intended.

He briefly lost consciousness before quickly regaining it. He will now undergo further tests in hospital to establish the cause.

Medical staff remain in contact with Eriksen and hospital doctors. He asked that his best wishes be passed to all the players and that they be told he is fine.

The incident came five years after the midfielder's cardiac arrest, which shocked football.
