Christian Kofane will miss Bayer Leverkusen's DFB Pokal semi-final against Bayern Munich after sustaining a thigh injury, Sport Bild reports.
The 19-year-old has been a valuable option for Kasper Hjulmand this season and had been expected to start on Wednesday.
It is only the second time this season he will be absent from a matchday squad. His previous absence came in January's 4-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart while on Cameroon duty.
Signed from second-tier Spanish side Albacete last summer, he has seven goals and eight assists in all competitions. Only Schick and Alejandro Grimaldo have more goal contributions for Leverkusen this season.
Leverkusen have faced Bayern twice this season without a win. Kofane came off the bench in both, a 3-0 loss in November then a 1-1 draw in March.
Czech striker Schick is the likely candidate to step in. He started and completed 90 minutes against Mainz last weekend, scoring the opener in a 2-1 win.
The DFB Pokal is Leverkusen's last chance of silverware this season, and Bayern, who clinched the Bundesliga title last weekend, will be a stern test for Hjulmand's side without Kofane.
