They arrived on Friday evening after a 2-2 draw at Como. Liam Rosenior, his staff and 30 selected players began Saturday with marketing duties for their kit supplier, to which the club are contracted until 2034, before taking to the pitch for the first time.

On Sunday morning the staff set a demanding workout for Pierre Lees-Melou and his team-mates. Twenty-six players took part, with Ciro Immobile the only absentee due to illness. Warm-up games were followed by three seven-a-side teams playing at high intensity for more than two hours under the German sun.

Rosenior capped the session with a final running drill to test mentality, with Diego Coppola the most resilient. The afternoon session was cancelled and players were given time off, with Samir Chergui due to link up in the early evening after the World Cup.

Training resumes on Monday, with a friendly scheduled on Tuesday at the Adidas facilities against Greuther Fürth, who play in Bundesliga 2.
