Valencia’s Nou Mestalla development has taken a major step, with the city council granting Atitlan a licence to begin a hotel and retail complex beside the new stadium.
According to AS, the new ground is due to open in summer 2027 if there are no unforeseen issues, with the team to play there from the 27-28 season. The club had already agreed to sell the adjacent plot to Atitlan for close to 30 million euros.
The permit allows two towers, a 20-storey four-star hotel and a 13-storey two-star aparthotel. The scheme is designed as a large tertiary complex integrated with the Nou Mestalla, arranged in two main volumes linked by a shared commercial base, and will be built in four phases.
The plan also includes a shopping centre and parking for 606 vehicles and 1,079 bicycles.
For the licence to be granted, Valencia have paid 11.2 million euros relating to the Polideportivo de Benicalap. The towers must be completed by January 2029, with a budget of more than 60 million euros.
