City in the Community appoints new Chair of Trustees | OneFootball

City in the Community have announced the appointment of Gary Tipper as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Gary, Managing Partner at Palatine Private Equity and a lifelong Manchester City fan, joined the charity’s board in 2024.

With more than three decades of experience in private equity and a track record of supporting businesses to grow sustainably, Gary will enhance expertise in strategic planning, governance, and building partnerships to the charity’s top table.

His recent involvement in helping to shape City in the Community’s new three-year strategy means he joins the role with a clear vision for its next chapter.

Gary will be taking over from Pat Loftus, who is stepping down after 15 years on the City in the Community board.

Pat, who is a former Senior Partner at Deloitte, provided brilliant leadership throughout his tenure. The charity have extended their gratitude to Pat for his commitment to City in the Community’s cause.

Speaking about his appointment, Gary Tipper said: “I’m very proud to take on this role, it’s a privilege.

“I felt very honoured when Pat asked me to join the Board of Trustees a couple of years ago so to now take over as Chairman as a lifelong City fan and a proud Mancunian, it’s a great moment.

“The day-to-day running of the charity is in great hands with the senior team currently in place so I see my role as being a mentor to the CEO and helping to guide the team to achieve the plan.

“That’s what I do in my business life and I want to use those contacts and skills now to make sure the charity continues to flourish.”

Mike Geary, City in the Community CEO, added: “We’re thrilled to announce Gary’s appointment as Chair and would like to congratulate him on his new role.

“Gary joined us as a trustee just 12-months ago but made an immediate impact with his extensive amount of business experience in Greater Manchester.

“His stewardship will be invaluable as we strive to grow City in the Community’s impact and continue empowering healthier lives through football.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to honour Pat Loftus, who has been an integral part of City in the Community. We’re so grateful for the huge contribution he has made and can’t thank him enough for his years of service.”
