Bristol City host Sheffield United in the Championship at Ashton Gate on Monday, 6 April 2026, with both sides seeking a late-season lift from mid-table and the visitors carrying a clear head-to-head advantage.
Recent meetings have favoured Sheffield United. They won 4-1 on opening day this season and took both legs 3-0 in last season's semi-finals. Bristol City now have home advantage as they look to tilt the balance.
City arrive off a 2-1 win at Charlton, but that was their only victory in five league games, while the Blades are five without a win after draws with West Brom, Birmingham and Swansea punctuated by defeats at Norwich and against Wrexham.
The Robins' absentees stack up in defence, with Ross McCrorie, Robert Dickie, Rob Atkinson, Luke McNally and George Tanner all injured, and midfielder Joseph Williams also sidelined. The Blades list Kalvin Phillips, Tyrese Campbell, goalkeeper Michael Cooper, Jamie Shackleton and Sam McCallum as injured.
City's season numbers are balanced at 51 scored and 51 conceded, and they have 11 headed goals, backed by frequent open-play crossing. Scott Twine has 11 league goals, while Emil Riis Jakobsen is on nine. For the Blades, Gustavo Hamer has supplied 11 assists. Patrick Bamford and Callum O'Hare are on nine goals each. They have scored 57 and conceded 57, so midfield control and delivery could prove decisive.
City start 13th on 54 points and a win would take them to 57 and could nudge them towards the top half. The Blades sit 17th with 51 points, and victory would move them to 54 and may lift them up the standings heading into the run-in.
