While Borussia Dortmund face Atalanta Bergamo in the Champions League play-offs on Wednesday evening, FC Bayern’s preparations for Saturday’s Bundesliga showpiece are in full swing – albeit with a planned rest day
Coach Vincent Kompany officially gave his team the go-ahead on Wednesday, but things did not remain completely quiet at Säbener Straße. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Michael Olise completed individual training sessions at the record champions‘ ground. Both had been missing from team training recently, but the club has now given a cautiously positive update
According to the club, the short break from training is a measure to manage the workload and should not jeopardize the participation of the two key players in the classic in Dortmund
Regular team training sessions are scheduled for Thursday and Friday before the Munich team make the trip to the Ruhr region, meaning Kompany will be able to call on almost full strength

Alphonso Davies will definitely be missing, having to take a break with a torn muscle fibre. Manuel Neuer is still in recovery training after his calf injury. The 39-year-old has already been back on the pitch recently and has been working individually on his comeback
A start at Signal Iduna Park is not out of the question, even if Bayern do not want to take any risks with their captain. Jonas Urbig is available as an alternative should Neuer not yet be at 100 per cent. A final decision on this will probably only be made shortly before the game
The starting position is therefore clear: while BVB still have an international workload during the week, FCB can go into the clash focused and almost complete – a potential advantage in the title race.
