Roma manager Claudio Ranieri analyzed his team’s effort in the 1-1 draw with Napoli at Stadio Olimpico tonight.
In his post-match with DAZN, Ranieri explained his team selection and rotation of the starting XI, “The team tried to keep order on the pitch. After two days you have to play again and you can’t put the same players back because they don’t have any energy left.”
“Everyone is training 100%, they give me full confidence. It’s logical that the mechanisms are different.”
“However, this seemed more correct to me: start with 6/11 new players and then change and put the others in when Napoli might be a little tired.”
“It was all a calculation that had to be done. You can’t go there and think you won’t play well. With Eintracht I put all the starters in, in Udine I didn’t. You have to know how to manage everyone’s strengths.”
“Our focus is this: match after match we try to improve ourselves, we can’t fool our fans by saying that we are aiming for the Coppa Italia or Europa League. We are aiming to do well match after match, that’s for sure. I feel like promising the fans that.”
“Will more players leave? No, everyone’s happy to be here. Everyone’s staying.”
