“This will be a difficult match, for us and them,” said Ranieri. “Napoli have gotten new wind in their sails.”

“Dybala? I saw him in training for the first twenty minutes today. I will have to consult with him and the physiotherapists and decide if he can play.”

“I want to get to the bottom of why he’s feeling pain if there is no injury. Though I prefer not to run risks. I prefer to lose a player for one match and avoid losing him for a month.”

“Hummels? I feel at ease to make the decision I want to make,” he added.

“Right now it’s hard for me to say if the team has mentality or not. The players are good. This is a quality squad. My job was to restore confidence in them, in the team, and that can only happen if we start getting consistent results on the pitch.”

“This team doesn’t need a magician, but a man who can cure the sick if this team is sick. I have to get the child out of the players I have at my disposal so that they can play more freely, be happier.”

“Obviously the players will need the support of our fans who are the fuel of the team, but we have to get them behind us with good performances,” he continued.

“I thank the fans for their trust and for the displays of affection. If I didn’t feel the pressure, I wouldn’t have chosen to return.”

“This team used to play well, and it has to get back to doing it. We have some important steps to take, all of us, united. I am convinced that the public will also give us a hand.”

“Pellegrini? He must know how to react as a captain, when you fall the most beautiful thing is to see how you get up again. As a Roman he is introverted, he suffers inside and must know how to react when things go bad.”

“Cristante? He can play anywhere. Sure, he can play as a central defender, but if I have Hummels then why would I do that?”
