Claudio Ranieri is expected to leave his role as senior adviser at Roma at the end of the season.

The 74-year-old, who previously managed Monaco and Nantes, took up the advisory position after stepping down as Roma head coach at the end of last season.

In recent weeks his relationship with Gian Piero Gasperini has worsened after public exchanges, with disagreements over recruitment, squad management and injuries. That friction is said to have hastened his likely exit.

Sky Sports reports that Ranieri could move to the Italian Football Federation, FIGC, and that sporting director Frederic Massara could also depart.

With five league games remaining, Roma are sixth in Serie A and competing for European qualification.
