Clément Turpin will take charge of England v Croatia on Wednesday at 22:00 French time, his first assignment of the 2026 World Cup.
According to L'Équipe, FIFA has appointed the 44-year-old to the group L fixture. It will be his third World Cup after 2018 and 2022, and his sixth match at the tournament.
Following François Letexier's assignment to Côte d'Ivoire v Ecuador, Turpin now makes his bow at these finals.
An international referee since 2009 and voted the world's best in 2025, Turpin knows both sides well. He has already handled England five times, and this will be his fifth appointment involving Croatia.
He will be assisted by Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pagès. Mexico's Katia Garcia will serve as fourth official.
