A club president has pointed towards a defensive style of play as to why he sacked a Chelsea legend and wants ‘better football’ played.
We are very protective of our club legends here at Chelsea, but to be honest these words will probably not come as much surprise to any of us.
Before we get to this main story for the article, a check in on the main stories from today first.
Chelsea defender Axel Disasi wanted to leave the club this summer and the club wanted to move him on. However, he is now back in the Chelsea ‘bomb squad’ once again.
Disasi was apparently excited to be rejoining Monaco in the summer and a move there was all set to happen. But Chelsea’s bad planning meant that they had used all their foreign loan spots and this move was unable to go ahead.
But now Disasi is apparently looking to prove himself to manager Enzo Maresca despite being in the bomb squad, and is hoping to get a chance to make it back into the first team squad under the Italian coach!

Back to the story now, and we all heard about our legend Jose Mourinho being sacked by Fenerbahce recently, and there has been an explanation as to why this happened now.
Fenerbahce president Alic Koc explains Mourinho’s sacking:
“We parted ways because we believed this squad would be playing better football at this point.
“We knew our coach would put emphasis on defence when we brought him in, but we talked about the need to play more dominantly at the end of the season.
“Scoring 99 goals and getting 99 points [as Fenerbahce had done in the Superlig in the 2023-24 season] is our genetic code.”
