Club World Cup: Kompany ready to take on PSG
Bayern Munich vs PSG is the highly anticipated marquee clash this Saturday in the Club World Cup quarter-finals. Until now, the tournament has flown under the radar, but it takes on a whole new dimension with this showdown between two European powerhouses.
Vincent Kompany and his squad are eager to test themselves against the reigning Champions League winners. Undefeated since the start of the tournament, Bayern have enjoyed a flawless run in the United States. But now the real test arrives: Paris Saint-Germain, managed by Luis Enrique. At the pre-match press conference, Vincent Kompany made it clear his side is ready:
Our mindset is excellent, almost every player is at 100%. We're about to face a team that won everything last season. Matches like these can only motivate us even more.
Respectful yet ambitious, the Belgian coach doesn't hide his excitement:
PSG are a strong team with a lot of success. It's a huge challenge. I love going up against the best teams. That's why we're here.
While some may downplay the significance of this competition, that's certainly not the case in Germany. For Vincent Kompany, this is a crucial opportunity. His Bundesliga title was widely praised, but he still has to prove his credentials on the European stage. Bayern finished 12th after the Champions League group stage, before exiting in the quarter-finals against Inter.
