Mike Maignan’s renewal is one of the big priorities for AC Milan. However, the parties are taking a chance to look over everything once again at present.
In recent months, the topic of renewals has been ever-present for Milan, with a number of high-profile players engaging in discussions with the club to extend their deals with the Rossoneri. With Tijjani Reijnders’ deal confirmed, the logical next step is the Frenchmen.
Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan, though, are seemingly at a similar point, with the club currently not confident of offering them new deals. With that said, things are slightly more confusing with the goalkeeper’s situation.
As Calciomercato.com recalls, the parties verbally agreed on a new deal before the turn of the new year, but now, almost six months later, there has been no movement to officialise the deal. Instead, there is a period of reflection ongoing.
The goalkeeper stated at the weekend that he wanted to focus on football, and this, imaginably, is largely what the new deal depends on, with reports suggesting that the Diavolo are already considering alternate options.
Both parties have no urgency to restart the talks, because only a few details are missing. However, the lack of security with a renewal is probably off-putting. Despite this, Maignan remains Milan’s ideal number one; it just must be proved when the time is right.
