Sam Coffey says she's already feeling at home at City following our professional 4-0 win over Sheffield United in the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

The American international has made five appearances since her January switch to the Joie Stadium, including starts in each of our previous outings.

Our number 17 was  afforded the full 90 minutes by Andrée Jeglertz against the Blades, and she felt as though those minutes with different players will only stand the team in a good stead for the remainder of the season.

It was a dominant first-half showing from City, and Coffey almost got an assist when she opened up some space for Mary Fowler, making her return from a knee injury, to run into, but her effort bounced just wide of the post.

The American admits to her Blues move being a big one for her on and off the pitch, but says she couldn’t have asked for a better start to life in her new home.

“It’s been a dream, I’m loving it so far, the girls have been lovely, and I feel right at home off the field,” she explained.

“I feel like every day, I feel like I take a step into feeling more at home here because it’s a massive transition in more ways than one, but in the best way, so I’m really happy.”

After starting her first game in the WSL last week at home to Leicester City, Coffey was buzzing to have made her mark in the historic FA Cup, one which she admits to have watched from afar for a long time.

“It was a really good game. We obviously rotated a lot, so there were a lot of new partnerships on the field, a lot of things to figure out as we went along, but I think we were really good.

“I’ve been watching for years, but never played in it. I think it’s really cool that we get to play teams beyond the WSL and play teams like Sheffield United, and I think it’s really good for the women’s game, and it’s only going to get more exciting, so it was great to make my debut in this competition.”

Now heading into an international break and to reunite with her US teammates, Coffey is excited to build upon the relationships she’s already made in Blue.

“I love playing with all of them, and they’re all such incredible players.

“I think that’s what’s cool about our midfield, none of us are the same, we all bring different attributes which can only help the team.

“It’s been really great to just build partnerships, because I hadn’t played with Blinky (Blindkilde Brown) before, so that was a good experience, and that’s only going to make us more lethal, the more depth we have and the more relationships we build with one another, so I’m just so excited to keep doing that.”
