Chelsea are still the favourites to sign one player this summer according to the latest comments from one journalist this week.

The news comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.

Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.

Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.

Chelsea want a new striker

It’s common knowledge now that Chelsea want to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window, and this is something they have been trying to do for a while now.

They need to finally address it this summer window, and they have been linked with many potential striker names to come in and do the job.

Liam Delap remains one of the most linked names with Chelsea, and apparently they are still the favourites.

Delap good friends with Palmer

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Liam Delap’s future.

“He’s considering his options,” he said.

“He’s got a glut of clubs interested in him. At this moment in time, I would still make Chelsea favourites to sign him.

“He’s got that relationship from Man City with Enzo Maresca. Cole Palmer is one of his close friends. There’s that route to the first-team. It wouldn’t be too difficult for Delap to be first choice at Stamford Bridge.

“They can make a very good offer for him, because they do need him.

“In an ideal world, Newcastle would love him to be number two to Alexander Isak, but it just is not going to play out like that.”
