Michael Carrick has transformed Manchester United into one of the most attractive destinations for top players after securing Champions League football.

Even without Europe’s premier competition, United convinced the likes of Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko to choose their project last summer. However, they did miss out on Liam Delap, who opted to join Chelsea.

Some would say the Mancunians dodged a bullet in this case, but there is no denying INEOS would rather be in a position to turn down their targets than the other way around. They appear to be just about there ahead of the summer window.

Cole Palmer would consider Manchester United transfer

Cole Palmer is regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League, having established himself as Chelsea’s talisman after leaving Manchester City in 2023.

In 2024, Roy Keane claimed he is always excited to watch Palmer, who has that x-factor. “I do love Palmer, I think he’s amazing,” the United legend told ITV.

However, Palmer has suffered a downturn in form. He scored an incredible 27 goals and registered 15 assists in his maiden season at Chelsea. This term, he only has 13 goal involvements to his name.

New injury setbacks and the lack of stability and quality at Stamford Bridge have only exacerbated Palmer’s situation, leading to him being heavily linked with a potential move to United despite being tied down to Chelsea until 2033.

Palmer has tried to play down rumours of a return to Manchester publicly. Still, according to The Daily Mail, there remain sources outside of Chelsea who continue to claim he would consider such a move privately.

It is well known that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who was born in Wythenshawe, is a boyhood Manchester United fan.

Not a concrete Manchester United target

The report, however, adds that the situation is “somewhat dependent on United deciding they want him.”

Bruno Fernandes, the best playmaker in Europe, continues to spearhead the Red Devils’ attack, so it it is “unclear whether they would even test the waters this summer.”

Cole Palmer Stats: 2025/26 Season

Furthermore, Chelsea want to keep hold of Palmer and it is understood they would reject any and all approaches ahead of next season.

Given the England international’s form and a nagging groin issue, it would be best for United to continue monitoring him for at least another full campaign before considering knocking on Chelsea’s door.
