Colombia announce 55-player provisional 2026 World Cup squad, 13 based in Brazil

Néstor Lorenzo has named a 55-player provisional list for the 2026 World Cup, with 13 players based in Brazilian football. According to Globo.com, Athletico-PR and Vasco supply the most, three each.
Those in Brazil are Cuesta (Vasco), Arias (Palmeiras), Barrera (Botafogo), Carbonero (Internacional), Carrascal (Flamengo), Sebastián Gómez (Coritiba), Andrés Gómez (Vasco), Portilla (Athletico-PR), Rojas (Vasco), Borré (Internacional), Stiven Mendoza (Athletico-PR), Villarreal (Cruzeiro) and Viveros (Athletico-PR).
Also included are forward Luis Díaz, who stood out across the season at Bayern Munich, the German champions, and playmaker James Rodríguez, formerly of Real Madrid and now with Minnesota United in the United States.
Colombia are in Group K with Portugal, DR Congo and Uzbekistan. They open on 17 June against Uzbekistan in Mexico City, then face DR Congo on 23 in Guadalajara, before meeting Portugal in Miami on 27.
The 55 names were released on Thursday.
