Colombia sealed top spot in Group K as they shared the points with Portugal in a thrilling 0-0 draw in front of a raucous World Cup crowd in Miami.
A highly-entertaining back-and-forth game saw plenty of chances at both ends but not, somehow, a goal, ensuring that the South American side topped the group ahead of their opponents. James Rodriguez and his colleagues were roared on by a huge contingent of yellow-shirted support, and had the better of the opportunities late on to snatch three points – and thought they had won it when Davinson Sanchez headed home in stoppage time, only for the linesman’s flag to be raised.
Joining the pair in the last 32 are the Democratic Republic of Congo, who came through a tricky test against Uzbekistan. Their 3-1 win sets up an encounter with England in Atlanta on Wednesday after Thomas Tuchel’s side beat Panama to finish top of Group L.
