The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation has judged accusations against André Villas-Boas to be unfounded. According to O Jogo, the complaints were lodged by Sporting and João Diogo Manteigas.
They alleged offences to the honour and reputation of sporting bodies and their members, citing an editorial in the March edition of Dragões magazine.
In that column, the Porto president referred to a Portuguese sporting association he said was known for hiring priests to conduct masses at sporting events, and that it had asked the federation’s disciplinary body to penalise Porto for revealing such practices. He added that Porto wished the justice system luck in proving the facts given their gravity, and suggested there was a strong chance of a Gonçalves being used as a scapegoat.
He was writing in the context of the Benfica emails case.
Villas-Boas also directed several criticisms at Sporting, touching on Hjulmand and Luis Suárez, and the postponement of the match with Tondela. That game ended 2-2.
Manteigas is a former candidate for the Benfica presidency.
