Reports of Chelsea making a move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior are wide of the mark according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues heavily invested in the squad last summer, and made five new attacking signings as they totally revamped their frontline.

The January window is now open, and inevitably Chelsea have been linked with players, but the expectation is it’ll be a quiet month for the Blues.

Chelsea not making a move for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior

Chelsea supporters would like to see the squad strengthened in January particularly given it looks like it will be another battle to qualify for the Champions League.

The Blues have been linked with a number of young stars including Kees Smit and Darryl Bakola, and some players for the future could arrive this month.

David Ornstein doesn’t feel Chelsea will do much this month, although there was a report linking them with a move for Vinicius Junior.

The Brazil international would obviously be a great addition to the squad, but Romano has moved to shut down those reports.

He took to X.com and said:

“Reports on Vinicius Jr and Chelsea are completely wide of mark

“No talks, no bid, no negotiations. Vini Jr remains completely focused on Real Madrid, contract situation to be assessed.”

Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha joining in the summer

Whilst a move for Vinicius Junior isn’t happening, the Blues already have two new attackers lined up to join in the summer.

Both Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha will arrive from Sporting Lisbon and Strasbourg respectively, and are expected to go straight into the first team squad.

Quenda will provide another option on the wing, whilst Emegha will give Chelsea another option upfront, and it will be interesting to see how they settle into the squad.
