Carl Rushworth is currently on loan at Coventry City from Brighton
Coventry City are keen on a deal to sign Carl Rushworth on a permanent basis in the summer provided they earn promotion to the Premier League.
According to talkSPORT, the Sky Blues are keen to keep the goalkeeper beyond his current loan spell from Brighton.
The shot-stopper has featured in all 21 league games so far this season, having joined from the Seagulls in the summer.
He’s conceded 22 goals and kept eight clean sheets, more shutouts than any other goalkeeper in the division.
The 24-year-old has impressed as part of Frank Lampard’s side, with the team chasing a top two place in the Championship.

Coventry are interested in an approach to sign Rushworth on a permanent basis in the summer following his impressive performances so far this season.
However, the Sky Blues are only willing to pursue a deal provided they can earn their place back in the Premier League.
Lampard guided the team to a fifth-place finish last season, but a play-off defeat to Sunderland consigned the club to another year in the second division.
But a strong start to this term has left the team in top spot, where they will be sitting on Christmas day regardless of their result in this weekend’s round of fixtures.
It remains to be seen whether Brighton would be open to a permanent departure, although Rushworth has been unable to get a look in at the Amex Stadium during his time with the Premier League side.
It’s understood that the Seagulls are unable to recall Rushworth during the upcoming January transfer window, meaning he will at least see out the season at the CBS Arena.
Next up for Coventry is a trip to St. Mary’s to face Southampton on 20 December in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Rushworth has proven a solid signing for Coventry, even if he has made a couple of errors since joining.
The goalkeeper is still only 24, which is quite young for someone in his position, and he has room to grow and improve as he gains more and more experience.
If the Sky Blues are promoted, then keeping him as first-choice between the sticks would be great, as that kind of continuity between campaigns can be crucial to squad cohesion.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee it would take to sign him, but it’s a deal that would make a lot of sense for Coventry provided Brighton don’t ask over the odds for him to sign permanently.
