News coming out of Brazil is confirming what we sadly already knew.

Young winger Estevao is not going to the World Cup with Brazil. Ge Globo have today reported that he won’t be on the list of 55 names in the preliminary squad for the Selecao.

After tearing his hamstring against Manchester United last month, the teenager tried his best for a miracle recovery which never seemed likely. The tournament is now just a month away, and Carlo Ancelotti won’t be counting on him.

Estevao needs to focus on long term recovery over World Cup disappointment

Frankly, we’re much more concerned with Estevao’s long term health than his World Cup chances. From the moment the word came out that his issue was serious, we’d written off his chances of going.

Reports that this was a serious tear which could affect his speed and agility long term are far more concerning. As sad as he might be right now, he needs to focus on his rehab to make sure to limit the damage as much as possible.
