Conrad Harder provokes Benfica with pre-derby post before Sporting clash | OneFootball

Minutes before another Sporting v Benfica derby, a social media post from Conrad Harder stirred debate. According to Glorioso 1904, it quickly became a talking point among fans.

The Danish striker, now at Leipzig, ended a goal drought of about three months by scoring in a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. He came on in the 79th minute and, two minutes later, sealed the result.

Afterwards he suggested he might enjoy playing against eagles, a nod to Frankfurt's mascot that many took as a dig at Benfica, who share the symbol. Sporting's Zeno Debast responded in the comments.

Harder has faced Benfica four times, recording two wins, one draw and one defeat. He also scored against them in last season's Taça de Portugal final, which Sporting won 3-1.

Benfica, who have come under criticism from Luís Mateus, return to action on Sunday 19 April against Sporting. The Liga Portugal Betclic matchday 30 fixture, against the side coached by Rui Borges, kicks off at 18:00 at Estádio José Alvalade.
