The Brazilian Football Confederation announced that the draw to decide home advantage in the opening round of the 2026 Copa do Brasil will be held at 15:00 Brasília time on Wednesday 28 January at its Rio de Janeiro headquarters.

The first phase starts on 18 February. Twenty-eight of the lowest-ranked clubs in the CBF ranking will contest single ties for places in round two. The competition features 126 teams across nine stages.

The 20 Série A clubs enter only in the fifth stage, with dates set for 22 and 23 April.

To set the pairings, the CBF will also use the federation ranking because many sides have no points in the national club ranking. Clubs listed in the RNC are seeded higher and will face teams from lower-ranked federations. Where both state representatives have no points, federations will nominate their affiliates for each tie, and the CBF has yet to disclose those nominees.

Projected first-phase ties include: Ji-Paraná-RO x Ivinhema-MS or Pantanal, Independente-AP x Ivinhema-MS or Pantanal, Madureira x Baré-RR or Monte Roraima, Gama-DF x Baré-RR or Monte Roraima, Galvez-AC x Guaporé-RO, Velo Clube-SP or Primavera-SP x Vasco-AC, Velo Clube-SP or Primavera-SP x Araguaína-RO, Sampaio Corrêa-RJ x Desportiva Ferroviária-ES, Betim-MG x Piauí, Tirol-CE x América de Propriá-SE, Santa Catarina x IAPE-MA, Porto-BA x Serra Branca-PB, Maguary-PE x Laguna-RN, Bragantino-PA x Primavera-MT.
