Copete could miss the rest of the season for Valencia after suffering a meniscus problem.

According to AS, the centre-back has damaged the meniscus in his left knee and is weighing up surgery, a decision that could rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

He completed the derby against Villarreal but finished with discomfort.

Setbacks have become frequent for Carlos Corberán’s side. First Diakhaby was ruled out for the season, then Foulquier, and now Copete might be next.

His absence would be significant for Valencia, as he has played more minutes than any team-mate this season. The Andalusian has missed only four matches and has been Corberán’s most reliable centre-back.

If a long lay-off is confirmed, Valencia could turn to free agents, as they did to sign Saravia after Foulquier’s injury. The remaining options are Tárrega, Cömert and Unai Núñez.
